A total of 187 Ukrainian athletes have already qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London and participate in 18 sports, and their number will rise to 210-220, reads a statement posted on the official Web site of the Ukrainian National Olympic Committee on March 22.
The report notes that the qualifying stage will be completed in May and that the final number of Ukrainian athletes will be known in early June.
The 30th Summer Olympic Games will be held in London from July 27 to August 12, 2012. Athletes will compete for 302 sets of medals in 35 sports.
Ukrainian athletes have claimed 101 Olympic medals over 20 years of Ukraine’s independence (96 medals at the Summer Games and five medals at the Winter Games).
