The finals of this inaugural tournament highlight the growing interest in this sport, both by enthusiasts nationwide, and by Ukraine’s sports ministry. Rumor has it Ukraine will soon give official accreditation to the sport, meaning the prospect of Ukrainian teams competing on the world level. Ukrainians playing cricket at a world level? A world-class concert, as the great Russian violist Yuriy Bashmet rolls into the National Opera Theater to perform with the Soloists of Moscow chamber ensemble. Bashmet will perform as both soloist and conductor in a program including music by Shostakovich, Tchaikovsky and Paganinni.
