If you don’t make it into the Kyiv Post Halloween Party, you’re not totally screwed: there are other options. Most events hosted by restaurants will take place Sunday, Oct. 31 – when a full moon, by the way, will cast its eerie pall over the city.
The following is a short list of some of the major Halloween events taking place in Kyiv on Oct. 31.
For starters, consider a deejay party, which will be the highlight of the Oct. 31 festivities at Decadence House. House residents DJ Plan and DJ Igor Norman will play pumping party records, and everyone is invited. The rooms will be decorated with horrifying themes; the staff will be in costume. The guest judged to have the best costume will receive a special surprise.

The menu will include hot apple cider, pumpkin pie, steak with pumpkin sauce, pumpkin casserole, and more. Staff will be dressed for the occasion.

It was the druids of the British Isles who inspired much Halloween lore. Those irrepressible Scots at Shooters hope to inspire a bit of Halloween lore themselves with a pre-Halloween party on the 30th and a real Halloween party on the 31st. Prizes will be awarded for best costume on both nights. Chefs are preparing a “pumpkin surprise,” while the bartenders will be serving a “super punch.”

For Ukrainian goths and heavy metal fans, Store 205 will throw their Carnival of Lost Souls “Helloween” party on Oct. 31. The evening, with a carnival atmosphere, is being billed as “a grotesque Ukrainian celebration of Halloween” – though that might be a better way to describe the same day’s presidential election. Music will be dark gothic/heavy featuring Gray/Scale and Sada plus a full line-up of deejays. For more info, see www.gothic.com.ua/ukrrus.news.html.
