HOCKEY: Sokil (Kyiv) vs. Nyeman (Belarus).

The Eastern European Hockey League season opens with the capital’s entry in the league hosting one of their Belarusian counterparts. The Belarusians support hockey with almost as much fervor as their president leads the country. There’s no NHL this year, but who cares when the Falcons are playing?

Sunday 3

BOXING: Volodymyr Klitschko vs. DaVarryl Williamson.

Klitshcko the Younger (42-3, 39 KOs) steps into the square circle against up-and-coming American DaVarryl “Touch of Sleep” Williamson. This will be Volodya’s first fight since being stopped in the fifth round of the WBO World Heavyweight title bout by Lamon Brewster on April 10. ELECTRONIC MUSIC: Zsuf.

From Ternopil, Zsuf and their debut 2003 album “Nameless” present a great leap forward for Ukraine’s electronic scene, given the concentration of electronica acts in Kyiv, Lviv or Kharkiv. Their new project improvises plenty with psychedelic beats and trippy rhythms; imagine a Ukrainian version of Germany’s Kraftwerk. Check out this emerging sound from out west.

SOCCER: World Cup Group 2 Qualifier: Ukraine vs. Greece.

We got stuck with the Greeks again, in case you didn’t know. They have the same coach who led them to victory in the final of EURO 2004, too. But this is for the World Cup in Germany in 2006. Ukraine already leads the pool (having tied Denmark and beaten Kazakhstan) while Greece is floundering (they lost to Albania and tied Georgia). Go watch Sheva and the boys hammer the Greeks and take away maximum points in this one.

Olympic Stadium (55 Chervonoarmiyska, Respublikansky Stadion metro). 7 p.m. Tickets Hr 10 to Hr 50.
