“In Paris, everybody is in black, but in Ukraine, everyone wears bright colours,” says Olga Kurylenko, the glamorous Ukrainian-born actress and former Bond girl (Quantum of Solace). The Days of Ukraine in the UK festival, brought to the UK by The Firtash Foundation, promises to be a scrumptiously bright but reassuringly highbrow (don’t expect 2004 Eurovision winner Ruslana and her “Wild Dance” here) celebration of the Eastern European nation, which will bring together the country’s leading musicians and artists.

“We have selected the best Ukrainian artists, musicians, fashion designers and authors to take part in the festival and I am excited about them all,” maintains Lada Firtash, founder of The Firtash Foundation, the charity who has organised this spectacular cultural festival. “Ukraine has so many unique talents to share with the world; three days is not enough,” she adds.

The three-day event, which runs from 17-19 October, will raise the profile of Ukraine and will highlight the country’s fascinating heritage and its vibrant culture. After all, this is a nation that has already been partly responsible for nurturing the likes of Steven Spielberg and Mila Kunis, among many others.
