Ukrainian alternative rockers Tanki are currently recording a new album called “V Temnotye,” or “In the Dark” – due to be released soon.

Ukrainian pop diva Ani Lorak has just made a new video for her single “Poludneva Speka” (Midday Heat). Shooting took place in Yalta after the singer’s performance at the Tavria Games summer music festival last month. The song’s title was appropriate for Crimea, since daytime temperatures in Yalta have recently been hovering around 40 degrees.

Russian superstar Zemfira has said she’ll return to the stage next year. She is recording a new album – with the vocal tracks being recorded in St. Petersburg and the music in Britain. Due for official release in 2002, songs from the disc should be blasting from your favorite kiosk soon.

Moldova’s Zdob si Zdub soon will be taking part in the Aug. 1-8 Sziget Music Festival in Budapest. Zdob si Zdub are to play on the last day of the festival, when other featured acts include Placebo and Eagle-Eye Cherry.

In club news, Kyiv’s rave center Ultra is closing its doors for the month of August and plans to reopen Friday Aug. 31. And Al Capone disco will be closed Sundays until September. The club has also changed the time of its Thursday Ladies’ Night from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.
