GENEVA (AP) — Some 2,000 letters, postcards and photographs sent by the last Russian czar's siblings to their private Swiss tutor are to be auctioned in Geneva next month.
Swiss auction house Hotel des Ventes says the correspondence from Czar Nicholas II’s siblings George, Xenia, Mikhail and Olga covers the period from 1881 to 1959.
Chief auctioneer Bernard Piguet told The Associated Press on Friday that the letters sent to their tutor Ferdinand Thormeyer are "really intimate documents" and have never before been historically analyzed.
Piguet said the collection is being sold by the descendants of Thormeyer.
