Businessman Hryhory Surkis’ German restaurant, which is scheduled to open in mid-September, will include what has been billed “the most elite disco in town.” Managers recently bought a $62,000 sound system and a $115,000 lighting system. The yet-to-be-named restaurant-club, formerly known as the Harley Club, will be for “members only.”
Organizers of the Chaika International Youth Festival have announced that the second part of the musical extravaganza will take place from Aug. 24 to Aug. 25 at the Chaika aerodrome – timed to Ukraine’s Independence Day. Similar to the first Chaika festival that took place during Kyiv Days, the event will include a long list of popular rock bands, including Russian groups Splin, Nike Borzov and Bad Balance, as well as Ukrainian rock groups Green Grey, Vopli Vidoplyasova, Okean Elzy and TNMK.
After nearly three years on Kyiv’s entertainment scene, Dynamo Lux’s “Jazz on Wednesdays” series has been pulled from the club’s lineup. The series hosted a sleuth of local and international jazz talents, such as American trumpet player Tony Guerrero and Kyiv’s newest sensation the Three Latin Girls. According to the Olexei Kogan, the host of the jazz series, Jazz on Wednesdays was not drawing in enough money to sustain the program.
