You're reading: What is the best vacation spot in Ukraine?

Ukraine is not just a great place to live, its a fine vacation destination too. Considering the country’s relatively inexpensive transportation system and accommodations, however, home has never looked better. And as the results of our Readers Poll clearly indicated, Ukraine is rich in vacation opportunities – with a wide range of mountain, ocean, lake, and.

To be more specific, the ultimate Ukrainian holiday hot spot is Yalta, according to our readers. It’s no wonder as Yalta fills so many needs it’s hard to break them down: You want to see trees? Feel a cool breeze on your sun-blanched skin? Get a nice A nice view of the city lights? Find a place to swim, sail, camp, hike, rock climb or mountain bike? Maybe you’re just tired of cars and busy streets and want to get away for a few days.

Some of our more rugged, adventurous readers found the Carpathian Mountains and the banks of the Dnipro River as the prime spot for fun and relaxation. “[The Dnipro] will feed and keep you. The bushes and trees will give you shelter and firewood. And the trip down the river with your friends will fill you with happiness,” one of our more intrepid readers explained.

Foros, considered the most picturesque spot in the Crimea and with great campgrounds to boot, also received a handful of votes. Preferring the confines of an airport pub, one reader sees the Irish Bar at Boryspol to be, “the happy place you reach after clearing customs.” Apparently for some of us globetrotting, city folks, “it’s important to have wilderness, even if we never go there,” author Ed Abbey wrote.

The jewel of western Ukraine, Lviv, was also voted the best vacation spot by a number of readers. “Take a guide or just enjoy the cafes,” wrote one respondent, adding that it’s, “convenient to get to by train and easy to get around when there.” For some of us, there’s no place like home to relax on our days off.

“All my work life I have vacationed in my native village of Hlynsk,” wrote one patriot. “It has a clean environment; the Sula River has fish and crayfish, and the forest is filled with mushrooms and berries – there is healthy and cheap food, too.”
