President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has said that the oppression of Ukrainian journalists in occupied Crimea is unacceptable.

“I consider it unacceptable to oppress Ukrainian journalists in the occupied Crimea. Searches of the premises of well-known Crimean Tatar journalist Liliya Budzhurova, and also ATR channel staff, are further violations of human rights on the peninsula and one more attempt to take revenge on our citizens for reserving their dignity and not accepting Crimea’s occupation,” Poroshenko posted on his Facebook account on Nov. 4.

He stressed that the searches breach the statement signed by 36 countries on October 30 during the 70th United Nations General Assembly on concern over the human rights situation in temporarily occupied Crimea.

As reported, the Interior Ministry of Ukraine has opened two criminal cases on illegal forced entry to the house of the parents of Director of ATR Crimea Tatar TV Channel Lenur Isliamov and the obstruction of the legal work of public organizations opposed to the occupation of Crimea.
