The Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers has forwarded a formal recommendation to President Petro Poroshenko that he dismiss head of Donetsk Regional Military-Civilian Administration Oleksandr Kikhtenko for inappropriately performing his duties.

“This decision was made at an extraordinary government session on Friday, June 5,” the government said on its website on June 5.

Interior Minister Arsen Avakov had suggested earlier that Kikhtenko’s dismissal should be initiated.

Kikhtenko himself said on May 21 that an inspection initiated by the Cabinet had found his work to be unsatisfactory and admitted that a decision on his further service as head of the regional administration rested exclusively with the president.
