Luhansk militia set to release 863 Ukrainian prisoners by weekend

Luhansk - The self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) press service says the militia is set to transfer 863 captured servicemen to the Ukrainian side.

“(Ukrainian President) Poroshenko has announced the release of 1,200 Ukrainian POWs by the Novorossiya army. Another 863 Ukrainian servicemen will be transferred to Ukraine by this weekend in accordance with the prisoner swap deal,” says a report posted on the LPR Web site on Sept. 9.

“The militia says 311 militiamen are held being prisoner by the Ukrainian side,” it noted.
