Malaysian Transport Minister Liow Tiong Lai has said that Malaysia will ask the UN to send peacekeeping forces so that the investigation group can immediately enter Malaysian Boeing crash site in Ukraine, according to the Malaysian news agency Bernama.
“[The minister] said the presence of a UN peacekeeping force in the area could ensure that the conflicting Ukraine authorities and the separatist group in the area can fulfill their promises, including the ceasefire that was agreed upon earlier,” reads Bernama’s statement.
The Malaysian Transport Minister noted that the international investigating team had yet to enter the crash site of MH17 in eastern Ukraine, as the situation there was still unsafe.
