The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe's special monitoring mission in Ukraine said Dutch experts were completing the search for the remains of victims of the Malaysian Boeing disaster in the Donetsk region.

Mission chief Michael Bociurkiw said at a press briefing in Kyiv on Tuesday, Nov. 11 that Dutch experts were applying maximum search effort at the site of the Boeing disaster.

It is extremely difficult to find the remains in the disaster area, but the most recent developments suggest that a breakthrough is likely in the coming days, which we hope will indeed occur, he said, citing experts.

He also said that many of the observers have been doing this work since the day the air disaster happened, but added that the situation in the region has been changing rapidly, generating growing security concerns.

The security along the perimeter of the crash site, located in the center of the conflict zone, was not provided, the OSCE official said.

Shelling attacks obstruct relatives’ and journalists’ access to the place, he said.

A Malaysian Airlines passenger Boeing flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur crashed in eastern Ukraine on July 17, killing all 298 people aboard. Nine crash victims remained unaccounted for as of Nov. 8.
