Strasbourg – Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjorn Jagland has welcomed the election to the Verkhovna Rada, which took place in Ukraine on Oct. 26, 2014.
“While the final results are still forthcoming, today’s election was a clear expression of the Ukrainian people’s desire for peace, democracy and unity of the country,” he said in a statement on Sunday.
“I welcome the steadfast commitment of President Poroshenko and Prime Minister Yatseniuk to democratic reforms which was endorsed by a majority of the electorate,” he said.
