Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said that the extraordinary parliamentary election in Ukraine is being held without gross violation.
“Today the election is being held without gross violation, and we are holding the election which are in line with all the European democratic standards,” he told reporters after casting his ballot at a polling station in Kyiv.
The president said that he returned from the eastern part of Ukraine where he monitored the process of voting.
“It was pleasant for me to see that rumors that the major part of polling stations in Donbas will not open are untrue. The problems Sloviansk, Dzerzhynsk and Novoaidar had have been settled, and the turnout there could be compared to the turnout in Kyiv,” he said.
He expressed regret that over 25,000 of military servicemen were deprived of a right to vote at the election.
