Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada is capable of taking important decisions in the last days of its term, Parliament Speaker Oleksandr Turchynov has said.

“The parliament is able to work efficiently and pass decisions even in the last days of its tenure,” the parliament’s press service reported quoting the speaker, who asked not to interfere in the parliament’s work.

According to him, the Verkhovna Rada will consider very important matters on Oct. 14.

Turchynov said Tuesday’s agenda included the issues of fighting corruption, the bill on the prosecutor’s office, the bill on the fight against money laundering, matters of social protection of Ukrainians, and many other bills.

The speaker stressed that these bills were urgent and the society insisted on their adoption.

On Oct. 14, the Verkhovna Rada of the sixth convocation will hold its last sitting, unless there will be need for an extraordinary meeting, Turchynov said.
