The Verkhovna Rada of the new convocation will most likely resolve the question of holding repeat elections in five disputed districts, Central Election Commission (CEC) Deputy Chairman Andriy Mahera has said.

“It’s not so important what parliament adopts a law on elections, a law introducing amendments to the electoral law, or a separate special law on the holding of repeat elections. But it’s completely obvious that legislative amendments are not enough here. Budget funds should be allocated, and it cannot be done in a day or two,” he told Channel 5.

“Therefore, after the new parliament starts working, and after the leadership of the Verkhovna Rada and committees responsible legislative work are elected, then the parliament will most likely adopt a law that will legislatively regulate the question of holding repeat elections in the five constituencies determined by the CEC,” Mahera said.
