The Foreign Ministry of Ukraine has stated that it finds the report of PACE on the parliamentary elections in Ukraine balanced.
“In general, the document is balanced – it contains criticism, as
well as positive aspects,” the ministry’s spokesman, Oleksandr
Dykusarov, said at a press briefing on Tuesday.
The ministry said that the document in fact admits that the elections
were accepted as valid, and no doubt has been cast on their lawfulness.
Speaking about criticisms, Dykusarov said that they were related, first of all, to drawbacks in election legislation.
“After the completion of the elections, Ukrainian officials of
various levels confirmed their readiness to work to improve the election
legislation on Ukraine with the active participation of international
experts,” the diplomat said.
Dykusarov added that the Ukrainian side will take into account all
arguments and recommendations given by international observers.
