Kyiv Economic Court has closed a case on the lawsuit of the Ukraine-Forward! Party led by Natalia Korolevska against the Democratic Initiatives Foundation and Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS).
The political party demanded that the sociology institutions retract polls that give low ratings to the party.
An Interfax-Ukraine reporter said that a relevant decision was approved by the court on Thursday upon a motion of Ukraine-Forward! to abandon the suit.
“Today we decided that our lawyers should forward a petition to court to revoke the lawsuit against the sociologists,” the party’s leader Natalia Korolevska told journalists on Thursday outside the court.
In turn, KIIS Director Volodymyr Paniotto welcomed the fact that Ukraine-Forward! Had withdrawn its lawsuit.
On October 11, Ukraine-Forward! filed a lawsuit at Kyiv Economic Court against the Democratic Initiatives Foundation and Kyiv International Institute of Sociology with a demand that they retract their reports about the low rating of the party.
At the parliamentary elections in Ukraine on October 28, 2012, the party received 1.58% of the votes. Thus, the party did not overcome the 5% threshold and did not win seats in the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine’s parliament.
