Representatives of the Party of Regions of Ukraine, members of a working group preparing for the first session of the newly elected parliament have suggested that the new parliament should have 28 committees.
“We will propose that there should be two more committees (than in the current parliament) – 27 committees and one supervisory committee (the control commission on privatization),” MP Volodymyr Rybak of the Party of Regions said at a meeting of the group on Monday.
Rybak said that they offered to split the current Committee on Finance, Banking, Tax and Customs Policy lead by MP Vitaliy Khomutynnyk into two committees, as it was before – the Committee on Finance and Banking Policy and the Committee on Tax and Customs Policy.
According to Rybak, the parliamentary majority is offered to control 15 committees, the opposition 13 committees.
According to preliminary agreement, the parliamentary majority will have the Budget Committee, the Committee on Economic Policy, and the Committee on Foreign Affairs, whereas the opposition will get the Committee on European Integration and the Committee on Freedom of Expression and Information.
Rybak also said that three opposition factions had not named their representatives, who were willing to work in the committees.
