The Batkivschyna United Opposition is against the holding of repeat elections in the single-seat constituencies where its candidates claimed victory on October 28, the head of the council of the united opposition, Arseniy Yatseniuk, has said.

“The Central Election Commission has currently proposed canceling the election results in five constituencies. We won’t support the cancelation [of the election results] in the constituencies where we won,” he said at a rally outside the building of the Central Election Commission on Monday.

He also repeated the opposition’s demand to recount the votes at 13 constituencies.

The Central Election Commission, in its resolution adopted on Monday, recognized the impossibility of announcing parliament election results in five single-seat constituencies – Nos. 94, 132, 194, 197 and 223. In addition, the commission recognized the need to hold repeat elections in these constituencies and asked the parliament to take a decision on the holding of repeat elections in these constituencies.

The resolution says that the elections in these constituencies were not held in line with constitutional provisions and the law on the election of people’s deputies of Ukraine.
