You're reading: Coalition members may exclude any faction from coalition if it violates its obligations

The Bloc of Petro Poroshenko has proposed that members of a future parliamentary coalition adopt a respective agreement under which the coalition assembly will decide on the inclusion and exclusion of any faction from its ranks.

“A parliamentary faction that is not a coalition member may, with the consent of the coalition, join its composition by signing a coalition agreement. If a parliamentary faction that is not a coalition member expressed a desire to become its member on terms other than those specified in the coalition agreement, with the consent of the coalition, all its members sign a new coalition agreement,” reads a draft coalition agreement, which was published on the Web site of the Bloc of Petro Poroshenko on Wednesday morning.

However, a parliamentary faction may be excluded from the coalition under a coalition assembly decision if such a faction violates the coalition agreement.

In addition, a parliamentary faction has the right to quit the coalition at any time by notifying in writing other leaders of parliamentary factions that joined the coalition of this decision not less than ten days before the date of withdrawal.

“During this period, such a parliamentary faction at any time has the right to revoke its statement in writing,” reads the document.
