FC Shakhtar Donetsk has signed a five-year contract with Gremio and Brazil midfielder Fernando, reads a statement posted on the Web site of the Ukrainian club on Thursday.
The transfer fee amounted to EUR 11 million
The 21-year-old Fernando Lucas Martins has played 69 matches for Brazil’s Gremio since 2010. He also played six games for the Brazilian national football team, making his debut in October 2012.
As reported, Shakhtar sold Brazilian midfielder Fernandinho to England’s Manchester City for EUR 40 million in the current summer off-season. On the same day, on June 6, it was announced that the club signed Fluminense striker Wellington Nem for EUR 9 million.
In addition, on June 10, Shakhtar bought Ukrainian defender Oleksandr Volovyk from Metalurh Donetsk.
