Ukraine's national soccer team was ranked 18th in the world in February, keeping its position in the monthly standings maintained by FIFA, the sport's international governing body.
Ukraine now shares the 18th spot with France – to whom it lost a two-legged playoff match to qualify for this year’s World Cup – which moved up two notches from January. Spain, Portugal and Germany kept the top three positions, according to a table published on FIFA’s website today.
Among other countries in the region Croatia is ranked 16th, followed by Bosnia & Herzegovina, while Russia placed 22nd. Poland is 70th, and Bulgaria 72nd.
Ukraine’s team is scheduled to play an exhibition match with the U.S., which moved up one step to the 13th slot, on March 5 in Kharkiv.
