You're reading: A third of Kyiv residents have no hot water

More than 2,700 residential buildings, 69 hospitals, 205 kindergartens and 158 schools in different areas of Kyiv had their central hot water supply switched off for debts. Affected were parts of Obolon, Desnyansky, and parts of Dniprovsky and Podil areas.

The total debt to Gaz Ukrainy which provides gas for heating water is Hr 600 million. Kyivenergo, which buys the gas for heating water, said households owe it Hr 755 million. Eduard Sokolovskiy, chief of board of Kyivenergo, said he had no idea how long it would take to collect the debt and resume hot water supply, according to Segodnya newspaper.
