After the successful implementation of reforms, Ukraine will be able to apply for membership in the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said at a meeting of the OECD Council during his official visit to France.

Poroshenko has thanked the OECD members for the support of Ukraine and the decision to enhance cooperation in conditions of struggle against the aggression, the president’s press service reported.

“I am grateful to the OECD for the support of our plan of reforms. I’d like to emphasize Ukraine’s commitment to the international cooperation and the intention to introduce the best global standards of life,” the president said.

In the OECD headquarters, the parties have signed a plan on the implementation of the memorandum of understanding on strengthening the cooperation between the government of Ukraine and the OECD. The president called this document “a roadmap of reforms.”

He also emphasized Ukraine’s interest in obtaining the expertise in specific areas of reforms, such as management of state enterprises, fighting corruption, developing small and medium business, tax and financial control, education.

The head of state held a meeting with OECD Secretary General Jose Angel Gurria in Paris on Wednesday, the president’s press service reported.
