The archives of former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanykovych discovered by Ukrainian law enforcers have been evaluated as important evidence and attached to different criminal cases investigated by the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine, prosecutor Vladyslav Kutsenko said.

“These findings have been attached to criminal cases that the department for special investigations of the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office is investigating. These are title documents for land, and companies, financial statements,” Kutsenko told Interfax on Jan. 15.

He added that the documents were attached to various criminal cases being investigated in relation to Yanukovych. “Some of the documents were attached to cases related to crimes committed in the Maidan, others to property crimes committed by the former president,” he said.

Kutsenko said: “The Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine regards them as very important evidence.”

It was reported that at a session of the Ukrainian government in the middle of December 2015 Interior Minister Arsen Avakov said that the archives of Yanukovych and his family had been discovered and would be helpful in investigating the crimes they had committed.
