On October 13 and 14 bad weather caused power failure in 1,463 population centres in ten regions, reads a statement made by the press service of the Ministry of Emergencies and Affairs of Population Protection from the Consequences of the Chornobyl Catastrophe.
In particular, after noon on October 13 and in the early hours of October 14 foul weather and wind gusts -wet snow shower in the west – automated power line protection systems actuated and cut off electricity to 1,508 population centres: 613 in Lviv region, 274 in Ternopil region, 242 in Ivano-Frankivsk region, 177 in Volyn region, 107 in Rivne region, 34 in Zakarpattia region, 22 in Chernivtsi region, 16 in Odesa region, 8 in Kyiv region, 6 in Khmelnytskyi region, 5 in Zhytomyr region, and 3 in Vinnytsia region.
Most of others suffered Lviv, Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk, Volyn and Rivne regions.
As of 4p.m., 1,463 population centres remain without power, electricity supplies restored in 45.
Power supplies completely restored in Vinnytsia and Khmelnytskyi regions.
Accidents rectified by 2,085 workers and 569 machines, including 277 rescuers and 55 machines of the Emergencies Ministry.
In the standby mode are standing 1,214 people and 320 machines.
