Accusations against the leadership of the National Bank of Ukraine which were voiced on Tuesday by Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko are politically motivated and are aimed at changing the central bank's monetary policies, director of the NBU's department for external economic ties Serhiy Kruhlyk has said.
“Such statements are obviously politically motivated and expose the
desire to change the NBU’s policies in monetary and forex sectors ahead
of the presidential elections in Ukraine,” he told the Interfax-Ukraine
news agency on Tuesday.
If the Foreign Ministry has grounds for suspicions it should be acting in line with the law, Kruhlikov said.
As reported, the interior minister announced on Tuesday that there
were grounds for opening criminal proceedings against the NBU
leadership.
