The Cabinet of Ministers has introduced driving licenses for motorized bicycles with engine displacement under 50 cubic centimeters and electric engine with capacity under 4 kilowatt.

Ukrainian News learned this from governmental resolution No.511 dated May 20.

According to the governmental resolution, which amends provisions on the order of issue of driving license and access of citizens to driving of transport vehicle, citizens have to receive A1 driving licenses for the said motor bicycles.

A1 driving licenses can be granted to people aged 16 and more.

Moreover, the Cabinet of Ministers has introduced other three categories of transport vehicles.

In particular, quadra- and tri-cycles, motorcycles with side-car weighing no more than 400 kilograms have been separated into a special category, which requires B1 category.

The Cabinet of Ministers has also allocated into a separate category trucks with ceiling weight of between 3,500 kilograms to 7,500 kilograms.

The category requires driving licenses of C1 category.

Buses with more than 16 passenger seats require driving licenses of D1 category.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the State Automobile Inspection has moved forward with an initiative to introduce driving licenses for motorized bicycles with engine displacement under 50 cubic centimeters and their state registration.
