You're reading: Cabinet to again lower gas consumption norm

The Ukrainian government is preparing a new resolution to reduce the norm of natural gas consumption by households, as the previous similar decision was overturned by court, Vice Prime Minister Hennadiy Zubko has said during the government's hour in the Verkhovna Rada.

“The government canceled the decision, in which excessive rates of gas consumption were determined. Now it is preparing another resolution, which is coordinated with the ministries, to once again set the norms at the level approved by the decision canceled by the court,” he said.

He noted that in conjunction with the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry this process would be accelerated.

As reported, the Cabinet of Ministers in April 2015 twice reduced gas consumption standards for the population without meters. If previously the norm of gas consumption by households, which use only a gas cooker, having central hot water supply, was 6 cubic meters a month per person, then after reducing it was set at 3 cubic meters. For households with a stove and without central hot water supply the norm was reduced from 9 cubic meters to 4.5 cubic meters, while for those with a stove and gas water heaters from 18 cubic meters to 9 cubic meters.
