The Prosecutor General's Office has opened a criminal case against the director of the Krasnolymansk state coal company (Donetsk region) and his assistants.

The case was brought to court on the basis of materials from the
Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) under part 5 of Article 191 of the
Criminal Code of Ukraine, Maryna Ostapenko head of the SBU press
service said at a briefing on Friday.

According to the SBU, the leadership bought for the company new
technologies for filtering air in mines. But according to experts, the
equipment found in the mines has been used since 1976.

Then it was found out that the money for the allegedly new equipment
had in fact been directed to the personal account of the director of
the state company. The damages to the state are estimated at UAH 23
million.
