Donetsk, June 13 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Rescuers have found a body of another miner at the blast-hit Skochynsky mine in Donetsk, a source in the territorial department of the State Committee for Industrial Safety and Mining Supervision in Donetsk region told Interfax-Ukraine on Saturday.
Thus, the death toll reached 12 people. One miner is still missing.
Rescue work continues.
As reported, the explosion took place at the
Skochynsky mine owned by the state-run enterprise Donetsk Coal Energy
Company at 1015 on June 8. The explosion was caused by a coal and gas
emission. According to the Ukrainian authorities, there were 51 miners
in the area at the time the accident occurred. A total of 344 miners
were in the mine at the time of the blast.
