The Defense Ministry is intending to sue the Main Control and Auditing Chamber in connection with accusations against the ministry of violations in the question of food provisions to the troops.

Vasyl Bartkiv, the head of the department for state procurement and provisions at the Defense Ministry, said this at a meeting concerning food provisions to the troops of the Armed Forces.

“I think the best way for us is to go to court to defend our honor and dignity,” he said.

Bartkiv described the accusations from the Main Control and Auditing Chamber against the Defense Ministry of violations in the question of food supplies to the troops as unfounded.

He did not say which court the Defense Ministry will choose for the case and when.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the Main Control and Auditing Chamber has said it has uncovered illegal transfer of 53 land plots of the Defense Ministry with a total area of 266 hectares. The Main Control and Auditing Chamber has also claimed violations with the procurement of foods for the troops and procurement of fuel and lubricants for the Armed Forces.

Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has initiated the dismissal of Defense Minister Yurii Yekhanurov.

Tymoshenko said she hoped the Verkhovna Rada will consider the question of dismissal of Defense Minister Yurii Yekhanurov at the next plenary session week from June 2 through June 5.
