New political party "Volia" (Freedom) "announced its first steps" and presented its program on June 21 in Kyiv, the organizers of the convention of the new political force have said.
“The cofounders of the new political force include representatives of
the ‘Volia’ initiative and the public sector of Euromaidan as well as
activists from various regions of Ukraine that work on reforms and
lustration, lawyers, journalists, economists and business
representatives,” reads their statement.
According to the organizers, Volia Party members include: Chairman of
Lustration Committee authorized by Maidan Yehor Sobolev, MP Yuriy
Derevianko, public activist Olha Halabala, media expert Viktoria Siumar,
political scientist Serhiy Taran and publicist Serhiy Ivanov.
“In contrast to the old parties [Volia] has been created without a
formal leader. The party and its offices will be headed by Radas
[councils] that can elect coordinators,” reads the statement.
According to the leaders of new party, “Volia” has the goal of
establishing new principles of political activity: clear ideology and
tasks, transparency of procedures and finances, answerability and
responsibility for party’s actions, openness and means of social
mobility.
“Practical tasks that ‘Volia’ members aim to achieve include:
lustration through adopting the law ‘On Cleansing the Authorities’ and
the creation of local public lustration committees; conducting real
reforms to reanimate the country; overcoming corruption by destroying
oligarchs’ monopolies; and creating a free economy,” reads the statement
of the new party.
