A joint report by Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch says that both the Ukrainian authorities and Russian-backed separatists are torturing civilians and holding them in prolonged, arbitrary and sometimes secret detention. The "You Don't Exist" report also claims that civilians have been held captive as "human currency" for the purpose of prisoner exchanges.
