At least three Ukrainian soldiers were killed and six more wounded in the last 24 hours, military spokesman Oleksandr Motuzyanyk said on August 18, marking the deadliest clashes with pro-Russian rebels in recent months.

“The rebels launched more than 500 mortar and over 300 artillery shells at our positions,” Motuzyanyk told reporters in Kyiv.
