You're reading: Doctors: flu epidemic in Ukraine could start in late September, early October

Doctors have predicted that a flu epidemic in Ukraine may start late in September or early in October this year, Director of the Ukrainian Flu Center Oleksandr Hrynevych has said.

He said at a press conference on Tuesday that Ukraine was currently
facing a rise in infection rates, although the epidemic threshold
remained stable in all of the country’s cities. Acute viral respiratory
illnesses, rather than flu, were observed in the majority of cases, he
added.

A total of 35,200 patients, including 21,800 children were
registered as suffering from flu in Ukraine last week. The infection
rate has grown in eight of the country’s regions.
