Kyiv, August 28 (Interfax-Ukraine) - FC Dynamo Kyiv has not officially confirmed allegations that national team player Andriy Shevchenko is returning to the Ukrainian club from England's Chelsea.
The Kyiv club’s spokesman, Oleksiy Semenenko, said this to Interfax-Ukraine while commenting on reports in the media that Shevchenko is planning to hold talks with Dynamo’s president on signing a contract in Kyiv.
“Andriy Shevchenko is currently a Chelsea player. It will be possible to speak about his transfer to Dynamo after the documents are signed and stamped,” he said.
Semenenko declined to comment whether Shevchenko currently stays in Kyiv.
Shevchenko played for FC Dynamo Kyiv in 1992-1999 (in the main squad since 1994).
In 1999-2006, the footballer played for Italy’s Milan that paid $25 million for his transfer to the club. In 2006-2007, Shevchenko switched to Chelsea after Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich paid around $60 million for the transfer of the well-known striker. In 2008, he again played for Milan and later returned to Chelsea.
Shevchenko was born on September 26, 1976.
