You're reading: Electronic voting system catches fire in Ukrainian parliament

Kyiv, January 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Ukrainian parliament's electronic voting system, the Rada, caught fire at the seat of Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko MP Valentyn Zubov during a break in the parliament's meeting on Friday.

Zubov said that he had seen smoke coming from the equipment after inserting his voting card in the system, an Interfax-Ukraine reporter said.

A parliament worker servicing the Rada system immediately arrived at the scene and started maintenance work.
