You're reading: EU removes Yanukovych’s deceased son from sanction list

BRUSSELS – Viktor Yanukovych, the deceased youngest son of the former president of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych, has been removed from the EU sanction list under a decision of the Council of the EU, reads a report in the EU Official Journal.

Sanctions against three individuals from Ukraine have been extended.

Previously, the Council of EU reported that in the context of EU sanctions over the improper use of Ukrainian state funds, the Council decided on June 5 to continue freezing the assets of three out of four persons who are subject to sanctions until June 6, 2015.

The sanctions were extended for nine months against two persons, and for four months against one person, the press service said of the Council of the EU said.

According to the Official Journal, sanctions against former Justice Minister of Ukraine Olena Lukash and former Education Minister of Ukraine Dmytro Tabachnyk have been extended until March 6, 2014 and sanctions against businessman Serhiy Kliuyev have been extended until October 6, 2015.
