The European Union starts an antidumping investigation into imports of hot-rolled flat products of iron, non-alloy or other alloy steel originating in Russia, Brazil, Iran, Serbia and Ukraine, the European Commission has reported in its Official Journal.

The investigation was launched under the complaint lodged on May 23, 2016 by the European Steel Association (Eurofer). The association believes that these countries increased imports of steel to the EU and boosted their shares of the European market. All these and prices the countries sell their products have a negative impact on the local companies, Eurofer said.

The investigation of dumping and injury will cover the period from July 1, 2015 to June 30, 2016 (15 months). Provisional measures may be imposed no later than nine months from the publication of this Notice in the Official Journal of the European Union.
