You're reading: EU to hold international seminar on export controls in Ukraine in April

Kyiv, Dec. 15 (Interfax-Ukraine) - A European Union international seminar on export controls is to be held in Ukraine on April 23-24, 2009, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Vasyl Kyrylych told journalists on Monday.

“On Dec. 9, 2008 Ukraine hosted Ukrainian-Czech talks during which the sides agreed to hold in Ukraine on April 23-24, 2009 an international seminar on export controls, during the Czech presidency of the European Union,” he said.

According to him, this event would be funded by the EU and be part of a two-year EU program to step up controls on weapons exports and sharing EU principles and regulations for weapons export to third world countries.

During the talks, the Ukrainian side noted the event would promote the further deepening and enhancement of relations between Ukraine and the EU.
