 The European Union has deferred a decision on whether to sign far-reaching trade and political agreements with Ukraine at the end of November.

EU member states had originally expected to make a decision today at a gathering of foreign ministers in Brussels, but over the past two weeks it has become increasingly clear that Ukraine would not be able to provide the EU with the level of assurance it has demanded about its efforts to prevent the politicisation of prosecutions.
