Russia should be interested in Ukraine's NATO membership, because Ukraine will never allow any anti-Russian decisions of the alliance, Director of the Ukrainian Government Secretariat's Coordinating Bureau for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Vadym Tryukhan said on Thursday.

“Let us assume that Ukraine is a NATO member country. Will Ukraine
allow the organization, which makes decisions by consensus, to pass a
decision even slightly targeted against Russia? That will never
happen,” he said.

That is why, Russia should support the Ukrainian accession to NATO,
he said. The Ukrainian authorities should hold a frank discussion with
Moscow and reach a consensus, the official said.

NATO’s representative in Ukraine Michel Duray told a press
conference in Kyiv earlier on Friday that NATO will take Ukraine’s
opinion into account when forming its new strategic policy.

Duray said NATO is now working on a new strategic policy, and NATO
partners are also being invited to join this work along with NATO
diplomats.

The new strategic policy of NATO will take into account the opinions of our partners, said Duray.
