A senior Ukrainian official on Sept. 19 "suspended" a controversial decision to impose direct government control over the war-torn country's prized natural gas transportation company.

Citing “widespread resonance” deputy prime minister Stepan Kubiv caved into mounting pressure and announced that he had put on hold a decision from earlier this month to change the charter of state gas company Naftogaz in a way that shifted subsidiary gas transportation company Ukrtransgaz directly under economy ministry control.
