While struggling from a crumbling economy and a Russia-fueled war in the country's eastern provinces, Ukraine has initiated a package of reforms that, for the first time in its history, puts the country on track to European integration, a free market economy, the rule of law, independent courts and transparent governance. It's not there yet - not even close - but the small steps the government has taken allow for hope that someday Ukrainians will enjoy the same lifestyle as do other members of the European family.
