Russian diplomats in the Gaza Strip, working together with Egyptian and Israeli authorities and UN organizations, have managed to help 50 Russians and 20 citizens of Ukraine and Belarus leave Gaza for Egypt, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

“The Russian mission in Palestine, acting in coordination with the Russian embassies in Cairo and Tel Aviv, the Israeli side, UN organizations on the Palestinian territories, and employees of the International Committee of the Red Cross, made sure that 50 Russians and also 20 citizens of Ukraine and Belarus departed Gaza on July 17,” the ministry said in a statement published on its website on Friday.

About 100 other Russians have also recently left Gaza through the Rafah checkpoint on the border with Egypt with assistance from Russian diplomats, it said.

“We maintain permanent contact with the rest of our citizens not wishing to leave Gaza for personal considerations with the aim of providing them with possible assistance,” it said.
