Ukrainian students have staged a protest at a plant in the United States, demanding an increase in their salaries, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleh Voloshyn said during a briefing in Kyiv in Tuesday.

Voloshyn said the protest by Ukrainian students was being carried out at the Hershey plant in Palmyra, Pennsylvania. The Ukrainian students found jobs at the plant through the Work and Travel program. The students demanding an increase in their salaries, Voloshyn said.

"The U.S. Department of State has sent some of its staff to the plant to settle the conflict and find a compromise," Voloshyn said.

According to him, Ukraine’s Consulate General in New York is in touch with the Ukrainian protesters so as to protect their rights and legal interests.
